As a registered Maternal and Child Health nurse Andrea is able to provide an on-going service to both you and your family following the birth of your baby up to school age. The early days can be confusing and having a strong support base is important. Parents are welcome to make an appointment any time an issue arises as well as the key visits mentioned below.
A midwife's role is to be with women and this involves so much more than the actual moment of birth. I found that meeting women for the first time in labour was frustrating as it did not allow us to get to know each other in a way that provided mutual trust and respect and this had a detrimental effect on the labour and birth for the woman and her family.
